About the Site
Features and Purpose
- This site automatically generates specifications for Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep and allows you to download them in Excel format.
- The generated specifications can be freely used for checking your created Tableau files and creating deliverables.
- The uploaded files will be deleted after the specifications are created and will not remain on the server.
Background
For over 10 years, our company has been engaged in data analysis, visualization, and dashboard creation using Tableau. We have also been teaching these skills to employees of our client companies and nurturing Tableau users.
During this time, we received the following feedback from our customers:
Tableau Desktop:
- It takes a lot of time to document the contents of a created dashboard.
- It is troublesome to check calculation fields one by one when reviewing a dashboard created by someone else.
- When delivering, specifications are also required because it is difficult to understand with just the dashboard.
Tableau Prep:
- It is difficult to document the processing of each step one by one.
- It takes time to create a definition document for the loaded data sources.
- A lot of time is spent searching each step to see if there is any unnecessary processing.
To solve these issues, we developed this site to automatically generate specifications from created Tableau files. By automatically generating specifications, the time required for document creation can be greatly reduced, improving work efficiency and the quality of Tableau content.
This site is free to use and can also be used commercially. Please feel free to use it for your Tableau activities.
About Uploaded Files
The Tableau files uploaded to this site will be deleted immediately after the specifications are generated and will not remain on the server at all.
Only the JSON files and Excel files extracted as specifications will be retained on the server.
How to Use
- Prepare the files (.twb, .twbx, .tfl, .tflx) created in Tableau Desktop or Prep.
- On the top page of this site, drag and drag or select the files you have prepared and upload them.
- The automatically generated specifications will appear on the page. You can download the specification sheet in Excel format from the "Download Excel" button in the upper right corner.

- This site is not an official service of Tableau or Salesforce. Please use it at your own risk.
- The accuracy of the generated specifications is not guaranteed.
- Only Tableau Desktop files (.twb, .twbx) and Tableau Prep (.tfl, .tflx) files can be uploaded.
- The maximum file size that can be uploaded is 10MB.
- Never upload files containing confidential data or personal information.
